Aligarh Muslim University attended Advanced Interventional Pain Management Course at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK

Dr Hammad Usmani, Associate Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology and In-charge, Pain Clinic at JN Medical College Hospital, Aligarh Muslim University attended Advanced Interventional Pain Management Course at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK. About 24 participants from different countries of the world participated in the course. The three-day course focused on advance interventions for patients suffering from complex intractable painful conditions especially of head and neck region. Experts from UK, Sweden and other European countries provided training to the participants on cadavers under the guidance of C-arm and ultrasound. During the course, Dr Hammad interacted with various experts of Indian origin who are settled in UK and Sweden. They discussed the scenario of pain management services in India and assured him their full cooperation in improvement of pain management services in India. The Pain Clinic at JN Medical College Hospital is one of the few pain management centers of India, which provided a comprehensive pain management services to patients suffering from persistent and chronic painful conditions including back pain, cervical pain, radiculopathies, neuropathies as well as cancer pain and management of various spastic conditions. Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology, Prof Shahla Haleem congratulated Dr Hammad for participating in the said course and promised to start a fellowship programme in interventional pain management in the department. The faculty members extended full cooperation and support in improving pain services at JNMC
