Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Director, Centre for South African & Brazilian Studies and Coordinator, CRPS, DWAS, Aligarh Muslim University attended two international conferences held in Accra, Ghana and Dakar

 Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Director, Centre for South African & Brazilian Studies and Coordinator, CRPS, DWAS, Aligarh Muslim University attended two international conferences held in Accra, Ghana and Dakar, Senegal. These conferences were part of the Indian Council of World Affairs' (ICWA) commitment to India-Africa Forum Summit-II. The conferences were organized by ICWA in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the High Commission of India at Accra and Embassy of India in Dakar.
Prof. Gulrez presented a paper on "India-West Africa Development Partnership" at Accra and another paper on "Economic and Commercial Engagement" at Dakar.
The objective behind organizing these conferences was to contribute to the development in India's partnering with Anglo and Francophone West African countries within the frame work of South-South Cooperation. The conference was also an attempt to bring together academia, strategic thinkers, businessmen, policy makers from India and Africa. Further, as the engagement between India and West Africa is gaining pace across diverse fields, the conferences intended to provide a platform to promote a candid exchange of perspectives and experiences, and a comprehensive dialogue on cementing India-West Africa partnership.
Prof. Gulrez has worked extensively in the area of bi-lateral, cultural relations including conflict resolution and peace building in South, South West Asia and Sub Saharan Africa. Prof. Gulrez has served as the Consultant/Researcher, Good Governance (Component) for the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) Project, Govt. of Rwanda, Central Africa (2002).
