The Department of Pedodontics, Dr. ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University conducted Dental Health Programme at St. Fidelis Senior Secondary School, Talanagri.
Prof. M. K. Jindal, Chairman, Department of Pediatrics & Preventive Dentistry and Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery enlightened the students with a power presentation in order to create dental awareness. The correct way of brushing was also demonstrated through a model.
Five hundred students of Class VI and VII were examined. Out of them, 20% were found with decayed teeth in which 5% had grossly decayed with pus formation and pain. Twenty-five children had neglected dental health with pain and pus formation. Prof. Jindal said that based on the above data, it is proved that dental health is still not given its due importance either due to lack of knowledge, awareness, accessibility, availability and cost factor involved.
