Aligarh Muslim University participated in the Clinical Meet as an Expert of Mechanical Ventilation organized by the Hamilton Medical AG at Bonaduz, Zurich, Switzerland.


Prof S Moied Ahmed, Department of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University participated in the Clinical Meet as an Expert of Mechanical Ventilation organized by the Hamilton Medical AG at Bonaduz, Zurich, Switzerland.
More than 30 clinical experts from different countries, namely, United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Netherland, Poland, Libya, Qatar, Italy, India etc, attended the meet. Prof. Moied was one of the three experts from India. The other two experts were from Escorts Heart Centre, New Delhi.
The three-day meet focused on the recent advances in Mechanical Ventilation. The discussion was based on the newer modes of mechanical ventilation and their applicability in various disease processes. Based on the various researches and individual experiences, the experts emphasized that the newer modes of ventilation are more user friendly and less complicated. They demonstrated that some of the newer mode can even interact with the patients’ lung dynamics and automatically set the required target of ventilation for the patient.
The experts also had an elaborate discussion on the advantages of the higher version of ventilators that are being launched in the market. Prof Moied however stressed the use of conventional modes which are time tested, evidence based and have been used successfully in most of the disease process till date. He said that the most important limitations of newer mode are that it is available in a particular brand or make of the ventilators. Hence one has to buy those ventilators to avail the benefit of these modes.
